A permanent public record for science

Science is not the problem. The record around it is.

Almost every scientist is honest. The few who aren't don't win by being clever. They win because almost nothing about how a study came to exist has to be written down anywhere a person can check.

This is not abstract

Bad studies don't stay on paper. They reach your pharmacy, your hospital, your family.

96,032
patients, claimed by a study nobody could audit.

Governments and hospitals changed course on it within days. The data source refused every audit. It was retracted in weeks.

652
papers kept citing it after it was dead.

A retraction is a sentence in a PDF. It reaches almost nobody who already built on the study. Most citing papers never mentioned it.

0
places where you can see who funded what, across studies.

Funding lives in footnotes. Nobody can count it. A hundred studies can agree while sharing the same two funders, and no one would know.

Why bad science wins

Not because of bad scientists. Because the record lets it happen.

01 The money hides

  • Because a study can be published without ever naming who paid for it.
  • Because a researcher can name a funder on one paper and not the next, and nothing flags it.
  • Because the same small group can fund, write, review and cite each other, and nobody is counting.

02 Warnings don't travel

  • Because a study can be withdrawn and go on being cited for years.
  • Because a withdrawal is a sentence in a PDF, not something a computer can act on.
  • Because nobody's job is to go back and tell the people who acted on it.

03 Nothing has to be proven

  • Because nobody has to prove the data they're describing exists.
  • Because the person who owns the data is allowed to be the person writing the study.
  • Because the databases that do exist can be edited, and quietly are.
The Reef

Nothing here can be silently deleted, and every claim comes with a receipt.

That one sentence removes every condition on the list above. Not by trusting anyone more, but by making the record itself impossible to quietly rewrite.

What we put in place

Take the conditions away and it stops working.

01 The money shows

  • Funding is a structured link, not a footnote — so for the first time it can be counted.
  • Trust is earned by what you're willing to show, and how it's calculated is published in full.
  • We make no money on it. Nobody can pay to rank higher or score better.

02 Warnings travel instantly

  • Nothing can ever be deleted. A withdrawal is a new entry, not an erasure.
  • Citations point at a specific version, so a withdrawal reaches every paper that used it, instantly.
  • "We couldn't verify this" is its own permanent fact, and never blurs into "verified."

03 Everything carries receipts

  • Every claim carries its receipt — who paid, who wrote it, who actually saw the data.
  • Anyone can publish, with no gatekeeper — nobody shut out, nobody shut down.
  • The scoring algorithm is public and versioned — every change to it is permanent record too.

The proof it matters

This already happened. The record just couldn't see it.

In 2020, two studies changed COVID policy worldwide within days. Both were built on data from a tiny company nobody could audit. When independent scientists asked to see the data, the answer was no, and both papers died as quiet retractions.

By then hundreds of later papers had already cited them. Most still don't mention the retraction. A permanent public record with receipts would have flagged the problem on day one.

That's what we built.

652
papers cited the study after it was retracted.
Most never acknowledged it.
